A pair of Florida teens who nearly drowned at sea had their prayers answered when an appropriately named  boat called Amen came to their rescue.
Tyler Smith and Heather Brown, both 17, who attend Christ Church Academy in Jacksonville, decided to visit Vilano Beach with a group of friends for senior skip day on April 18, ABC News reported Friday.
The trouble started when the teens decided to swim out farther than they were able, they said in an interview that aired on “Good Morning America.”

“Me and Heather’s idea originally was to swim to an island,” Smith said. “Me and her were like the strong, courageous ones of the group. Eventually one turned around and the next.”
“I asked Tyler, ‘Do you want to keep going?’” Brown added. “He said, ‘I don’t care...

First of three parts
Thirty-five years later, Debbie Vasquez’s voice trembled as she described her trauma to a group of Southern Baptist leaders.

She was 14, she said, when she was first molested by her pastor in Sanger, a tiny prairie town an hour north of Dallas. It was the first of many assaults that Vasquez said destroyed her teenage years and, at 18, left her pregnant by the Southern Baptist pastor, a married man more than a dozen years older.
In June 2008, she paid her way to Indianapolis, where she and others asked leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention and its 47,000 churches to track sexual predators and take action against congregations that harbored or concealed a...

Prayers for Parenting

Enjoy this article that contains realistic and transparent prayers for parenting.
Dear Lord,
Help me not to overwhelm my children with unrealistic expectations.
Remind me discipline is for their good—and to always administer it in love—not in anger or pure emotion.
Keep me from dumping my adult problems on them, while helping me be transparent enough for them to learn from my mistakes.
Help me to remember my children’s current age—and respond to them accordingly.
Grant me teachable moments and prompt me to use them to impart uncompromising truth into their lives.
